Human rights lawyer and
chair of the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) Chel Diokno has
agained slammed the Philippine National Police (PNP) for its continued abuses and
violations during this COVID-19
pandemic.
“PNP ang pumaslang sa
apat na sundalo sa Jolo, PNP ang nangmaltrato sa tauhan ng DENR sa Palawan, PNP
ang pumatay kay Cpl. Ragos, at PNP ang lumabag sa quarantine para mag-maƱanita,” from his recent media
posts.
“Sino ang totoong
pasaway?” Diokno notes.

Currently the murder
of the 4 members of the Philippine Army (PA)intelligence officers in Jolo, Sulu
is being investigated by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The Jolo police
claimed that the 4 intelligence officers refused to identify their identities
and even tried to flee and initiate a firefight.
Last month former
Puerto Princesa police chief Col. Marlon Balonglong was accused of
beating up last June 10 eight (8) personnel of the Department of Environment
Natural Resources (DENR) investigating environment violations in a mangrove
area.
Last April 10, a
retired Army corporal Winston Ragos was shot near a checkpoint in Quezon City
by Police M/Sgt. Daniel Florendo over claims that the former soldier made
threats with a gun.
