US to share Covid-19 vaccine (once available) to PH - Lorenzana




In less than a week from the announcement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that China will be prioritize the Philippines when they have rolled out their vaccine against the novel coronavirus 2019 disease or COVID-19, the United States has also signified the same.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper assured this to Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana that the US will be sharing to the country any future coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines once available.




“Secretary Esper mentioned that developments on vaccines and therapeutics in the US are making very good progress and expressed their willingness to share them with US allies and partners once available,”read the DND statement.

Secretary Lorenzana for his part, took the opportunity to share the current status of COVID-19 in the country and also thanked the US government for its medical assistance and donations in relation this global pandemic.

Esper also took notice of the DND’s support for the national government’s decision to suspend the revocation of the Visiting Forces Agreement with thre US.

It was also shred by Lorenzana that both of them discussed the security situation in the South China Sea, counter-terrorism, and logistics cooperation, and the capability upgrades of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).



“Both sides committed to sustain dialogues amidst the pandemic and strengthen cooperation between the two defense establishments,” the statement also read.
