The different group
opposing the Anti-Terrorism bill is planning a massive protest this upcoming
Independence Day this amidst the big health risks involved by the novel
coronavirus 2019 disease or COVID-19 pandemic.
Police Lt. Gen.
Guillermo Eleazar, chief of Joint Task Force COVID Shield in an exclusive
interview with CNN Philippines was asked about the possible breach of
quarantine protocols for the upcoming Independence Day rallies this coming June

The high ranking
police officer said the protesters can still air their grievances and complaints
in the different online platforms currently available where the required
quarantine protocols such as social distancing will not be a big issue.
Nevertheless, Eleazar
said the Philippine National Police (PNP) would still be observing “maximum
tolerance” for the groups who would proceed wit their planned protest this
coming June 12.
“Just in case, they
will gather, they will be approached by the police to appeal to them to
disperse. Maximum tolerance is always there but if they would insist and resist
and disobey us, that’s a different story,” he said.
