A day after the
retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio gave the webinar
stating that the Anti Terrorism Act the contents thereof goes against the 1987
Constitution, senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said Carpio was mistaken on several
material points.
Lacson is one of the
principal authors of the proposed law said the retired justice was mistaken on several
material points in his interpretation of the bill.
“With all due respect
to former Justice Antonio Carpio, who I continue to admire and respect, he is
mistaken on several material points in his interpretation on the contents of
the Anti-Terrorism Bill,” Lacson said in a statement.

Lacson points out the retired SC justice is wrong in his interpretation
since Section 45 of the proposed measure made it clear the Anti-Terrorism
Council will not have judicial or quasi-judicial powers.
“I had addressed many of the concerns he raised, in
my letter reply to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. I hope those who
share his concerns take time to read it,” Lacson said.
