Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin,
Jr. answered the idea thrown of former senator Antonio Trillanes IV regarding
the idea Vice President Leni Robredo being the lead in the government’s
COVID-19 response.
Locsin said, the Vice President can be the wingman or second
fiddle to Secretary Carlito Galvez in the inter-agency task force on emerging
infectious diseases (IATF) in charge of the government’s COVID-19 response.

Earlier, he staunch critic of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte made
statement that the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic will be more
effective with the Vice President leading the IATF.
“Why does it have to be ‘lead’, why not a supporting role
under General Galvez who waded in and instantly whipped the disorganized effort
into working shape. I mean, if you’re sincere. What if she’s assisted by the
same people who have made a mess of a fine person’s campaign?” Locsin said in response
to an article on Trillanes’ remark.
Vice President Robredo has been helping out in the pandemic
through the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Her camp has said she does not
need a new government post to reach more people.
