The
president of the republic is appealing for a momentary ceasefire from his
critics and detractors as all hands should be on deck in government’s effort in
addressing the coronavirus pandemic.
“Isa
lang ang mensahe ng Presidente: itigil ang politika sa panahon ng Covid-19,”
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in Malacanang.
The
Presidential Spokesperson assures the public that the government remains on top
of the COVID-19 threat.
“Hindi
tumitigil ang binabato nila sa atin. May kakulangan daw, may kulang daw.
Tinanong ano ang kulang, ibibigay namin sa ‘yo. Walang ibibinibigay kung ano
ang kakulangan. Pero sagutin po natin. Tama ba ang mga hakbang na ginawa ng
gobyerno? Opo,” according to him.
The
Vice President has been the past few days been in media saying the government
has been “in denial” over lapses in COVID-19 response
“Ito
kasi, parang in a state of denial. Mayroong mga magagandang ginawa, pero
mayroon ding mga hindi nag-work—mga sinubukan natin pero hindi nag-work,” the
Vice President said.
Roque
has said that no government is perfect in addressing the pandemic but assures
the public that the administration is doing everything it can to be responsive
to the needs of all Filipinos.
“Hindi po tayo perpekto. We could have done better pero narito na po tayo and one thing I can assure you the President did the very best that he can and we are in control of the situation,” Roque said.
