International Human Rights Group are setting their sights in the country because of the noise created by those critics of the Anti-Terrorism Act which have been signed by Congress and awaiting the signature of the President for its approval.
Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson one of the defender of the new measure takes note that in the United States of America (USA) has stricter anti-terrorism laws compared to the bill that was passed by the Congress of the Philippines.

“Mas matindi pa ang kanilang batas, may Guantanamo sila. Bakit pursue niya sa PH? Sa US siya mamuna,” Lacson said in an interview on DZRH radio.

“Kaya nag-iisang Amerikano si Phil Robertson. Karamihan dito pinayagan ng citizens ng US,” he added.
Earlier reports came in that Human Rights Watch director Phil Robertson was quoted describing the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 as a human rights disaster in the making.
Lacson clarifies that the Philippine version were guided from the inputs of the different anti-terror laws of the US, Australia, and the European Union which are all considered to have a strong and vibrant democracies.

The senator adds all efforts in the creation and drafting of the said measure were aimed at making it conform to the United Nations standards.
“Itong Anti-Terrorist Act hinango sa batas ng US, Australia, at EU. Karamihan dito kinopya natin doon. Ang standard na sinunod ko, United Nations standards. Tapos pinagsama-sama namin ang mga batas sa Australia, ito mga strong democracy, US, EU, Australia,” he said.
