Tucano close air support aircraft for Philippine Air Force (PAF) are
expected to be delivered in early July 2020.
The Philippines
ordered six (6) Super Tucanos from Brazil, this is in pursuance of the Armed

The Philippine Air

activated Air Combat Command (ACC) of the air force, will be the future home of
the Super Tucanos once commissioned to service by the PAF.
According to Embraer, the aircraft in PAF service
will be deployed for close air support, light attack, surveillance, air-to-air
interception, and counterinsurgency missions.
“We are honored to be selected by the Philippine
Air Force, our second operator in the Asia-Pacific region, and with the
confidence expressed by our customer,” said Jackson Schneider, president and
CEO of Embraer Defense & Security in 2017. “The Super Tucano is the best
light attack aircraft in the market and we are confident that it will
accomplish with excellence the missions it was selected for.”
The Super Tucano is described as “turboprop aircraft is designed for light attack, counter-insurgency, close air support, aerial reconnaissance missions in low threat environments, as well as providing pilot training.”
It was designed to be highly operable in high temperature and humidity conditions in extremely rugged terrain, the "Super Tucano" is also highly maneuverable, has a low heat signature and incorporates 4th generation avionics and weapons system to deliver precision-guided munitions.
