Detained senator
Leila De Lima has a wishful thinking other than for herself.
The opposition senator
threw the question to the public, what if Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni”
Robredo is the overall leader in the government’s coronavirus response.
De Lima said, the
country could have benefited from a more organized and structured pandemic
response if the task force was headed by the Vice President.

“Paano nga kaya kung namumuno si
#BusyPresidente VP Leni Robredo sa IATF? Pihadong mas organisado, mas maayos at
mas malinaw ang direksyon ng pagtugon sa pandemya at mas marami nating
kababayan ang tiyak na matutulungan at mailalayo sa peligro,” she said.
“Tingnan niyo naman ang dami ng
nagawa ng kanyang tanggapan,” she said.
The Inter-Agency
Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is headed by the
Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III who is now facing a lot of
criticisms for his handling of the government policies towards achieving a more
organized approach and implementation of the plans in containing the
coronavirus pandemic.
A lot of groups are
already calling for Duque’s resignation.
The detained
senator shared the achievements of Robredo in the COVID-19 programs implemented
with the help from the private sector. Provision of protective equipment gear,
free shuttle service and temporary shelter for frontliners, online palengke
service, and “Bayanihan for distance learning,” are the projects being
implemented by the Office of the Vice President.
