Malacanang
just have had enough of the tirades of the Vice President against the policies
of the current administration most especially in the way it is handling the
COVID-19 pandemic response in the country.
Presidential
Spokesperson Harry Roque expressed dismay at Vice President Leni Robredo for
her statement that the Duterte administration is in “state of denial” over what
she perceived as shortcomings as regards the COVID-19 response policies.
Roque said that the Duterte
admin has been always open about its actions in the fight against COVID-19. In
a statement Roque reiterates, that the administration welcomes input from all
sectors, including the opposition.

“The remarks of the Vice
President that the national government is in a state of self-denial or praising
its actions are hence baseless,” Roque said.
“We find the action of the Vice
President, which is looking at the glass half-empty — focusing on the
shortcomings just to score political brownie points at the expense of the
Administration — totally unwarranted,” he added
In an exclusive interview with CNN
Philippines the Vice President was quoted saying that the current government seems
to be in a state of denial by touting the gains of its fight against COVID-19
despite various shortcomings.
“Ito kasi, parang in a state of denial.
Mayroong mga magagandang ginawa, pero mayroon ding mga hindi nag-work—mga
sinubukan natin pero hindi nag-work,” the Vice President said.
Roque said these so called incomplete
information the Vice President is looking for, regarding President Rodrigo
Duterte’s weekly report to Congress on COVID-19 can simply be resolved if
she just would ask for it.
“As the concurrent IATF (Inter-Agency
Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) Spokesperson, I call on VP Robredo
to simply request the information she wanted from the concerned offices in the
Executive Department. Also, I enjoin her not to hesitate in sending her
valuable inputs, and I will make sure her concrete ideas will be tabled for
discussion in future IATF meetings,” he said.
