1-SAGIP Party-list has chided the Lopez controlled ABS-CBN Corporation over the latter’s decision to voluntarily shutting down when they received the Cease and Desist Order from the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC).
House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta said no one forced ABS-CBN to go off the air after its congressional franchise to operate expired last May 5.

Marcoleta said ABS-CBN could have continued with its broadcast operations as the NTC has not enforced the closure order during the time they went off air, the evening of May 5.

The solon stressed that the ABS-CBN Corporation’s head honchos could actually shrug the cease and desist order from the NTC, continued with all its broadcasting operations and the next working day (May 8) filed immediately questioning such order in the Court of Appeals (CA) or the Supreme Court (SC) while their application is still pending before the House of Representatives.
“Kahit po kayo naka-receive ng cease and desist order, wala naman pong halimbawa na court order na kinuha… dapat nilaban nila,” he said.
