Govt troops nab ASG 'bomb expert' in Zamboanga City




The long arm of the law has finally caught this one.
Intelligence-driven law enforcement operation in Zamboanga city has arrested an alleges bomb expert of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) involved in the 2007 Batasan bombing.

The individual was identified as Kahar Indama, cousin of Basilan-based ASG leader Furuji Indama,this according to Lt. Col. Roland Barraquio, Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company commander.

Indama was arrested Zamboanga city in his residence through a warrant of arrest.
The standing warrant was for violation of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act issued by a court in Basilan.
The arrest in his residence also yielded an improvised explosive device, grenade, and a .38-caliber revolver with ammunition.

Indama was one of those involved in the November 13, 2007 bombing that killed then Basilan Congressman Wahab Akbar and injured seven others, two of whom are legislators, at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City, he said.
The “bomb expert” was also involved in the death of government troops which they ambushed in 2007 which resulted in the death of seven militiamen and one member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) and injured three soldiers and a militiaman.
Indam denied he is a member of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group and is claiming that he is an electrician by profession.

The seized IED he said are used for blast fishing as he has ventured to buy and selling of fish because of the quarantine imposed.
He is currently detained and undergoing proper disposition and documentation.
