Good news for
the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)
in general.
Republic of
Poland Ambassador to the Philippines Jarosław Szczepankiewicz has just confirmed in
a statement published on Business Mirror that the much awaited six (6) of the
sixteen (16) ordered S-70i Black Hawk helicopters for Philippine Air
Force (PAF) will be
arriving before 2020 ends.
“The purchase
of 16 S-70i combat-utility helicopters manufactured by the Polish Aviation
Works-Mielec (PZL-Mielec) is an excellent example of cooperation between our
two countries,” Ambassador Szczepankiewicz said.

“By the end of
2020, PZL-Mielec will hand over the first six units of S-70i Black Hawk
helicopters to the PAF under a contract signed in 2019,” he added.
In a senate
hearing last January 2019, Department of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana
said that although it is built in Poland, the S-70i Black Hawk helicopters will
be certified by the US based Lockheed Martin Sikorsky.
Further the
Defense Secretary said, all Philippine Air Force (PAF) pilots will be training
in the US mainland, and that all manuals of the new helicopters will be in English.
“In fact the
training of our pilots will be done in Florida,” DND Secretary Lorenzana noted.
“So all the manuals and everything will be in English.”
