Filipino ba talaga? Lopez asked to recite “Panatang Makabayan”

In the continuation from last week’s joint congressional inquiry of the House committee on legislative franchise and of good government and public accountability concerning the new application of the ABS-CBN Corporation new legislative franchise its chairman emeritus Gabby Lopez was there to answer the different querries and questions of the Congressmen.

The same as last week, the congressmen grilled the ABS-CBN top boss regarding his dual citizenship to which he admitted last week.

Rep. Rodante Marcoleta a fierce critic of the franchise application of a new franchise for the Lopez controlled corporation demanded to Lopez to recite the first line of the “Panatang Makabayan,” to prove his allegiance to the Philippines.

As we all know kids in school and in government offices are made to recite such oath during flag ceremonies.
Ganito na lamang po, para matapos tayo sa issue ng allegiance, mawalang galang na po, Mr. Lopez, pwede ba naming hilingin sa inyo na i-recite ninyo ang unang linya ng Panatang Makabayan?” Marcoleta asked Lopez.
And while waiting for an answer from Lopez, Marcoleta told Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Carlos Zarate at the plenary: “Congressman Zarate, baka gusto mo ng tulungan.”
Zarate is part of the MAkabayan bloc who always criticizes the policies of the Duterte administration.

The Partylist solon visibly did not like what was asked of him and requested to strike such statement from Marcoleta.
As the two lawmakers are arguing, Lopez blurted in saying “Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas.”
Following a brief suspension of the hearing, Marcoleta however accuse Lopez’s lawyer coaching him on the first line of “Panatang Makabayan.”
