In the ongoing committee hearing regarding the grant of a new
franchise for the Lopez controlled ABS-CBN Corporation, a solon slams the
double standard bias of the tv station in its conduct under the guise of their broadcast
obligations.
SAGIP party-list Rep. Rodante
Marcoleta strong rebukes ABS-CBN for its allegedly double standard when it
comes to the reporting of charitable works.
In his privilege speech during the
continuing hearing of the House of Representatives regarding the franchise application
(May 26),Marcoleta said the Lopez controlled broadcast giant likes to hype its
reporting with respect to its Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc. (ALKFI) when as
a matter of fact the donations come from donors and not directly from ABS-CBN.

“Kapag politiko
ipinangangalandakan,” he said.
“Alam naman
natin na galing sa mga donors ang pondo na ginait nila. Meron kayang galing sa
yaman ng ABS-CBN?” Marcoleta added.
Marcoleta, who has been known to be one of the most outspoken
solon against the granting of a new legislative franchise to ABS-CBN has
received reports that allegedly the Lopez controlled corporation is using ALKFI
as a tax shield. The organization also reportedly failed to pay donor’s tax.
