47 NPA's abandon violence, yield to AFP




The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) scored another victory as regards the insurgency problems of the country as they were able to force 47 members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and supporters of the communist terrorist group (CTG) to return to the government fold.
The highest total of Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) who abandoned the violence this first days of June came from the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) with 23.

Last June 4 it recorded the highest number of surrenderees with 21members of the NPA’s so-called “underground mass organizations” withdrew from the CTG with the help of the 91st Infantry Battalion based in Dingalan, Aurora.

Last June 2, 7 CTG members also yielded to government forces in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
The AFP also reported last June 1 five surrenderees in separate occasions in Isabela, Tarlac, and Ilocos Sur.
In Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM), 7 former CNTs yielded, 5 of which surrendered on June 3 in the areas of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Davao del Oro and Davao del Norte.

While there is 2 voluntary surrenderees to government from Mawab, Davao del Oro and Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on June 1 and 2.
Another 5 CNT’s yielded to government forces from Mulanay, Quezon under SOLCOM last June 2. Two other NPAs presented themselves to 46IB from Calbiga Samar last June 3.
With the relentless military operation it resulted to a death of 1 NPA and arrested 5 from June 1 to 5.
In a military operation by the Southern Luzon Command government troops figures in an encounter with 10 CNTs in Baco, Oriental Mindoro area which resulted to the death of one enemy.

 According to AFP Chief of Staff General Felimon T. Santos Jr.,“The unwavering commitment of our troops to their sworn duty under NTF-ELCAC with the active support of local government units proved to be successful in securing our nation’s safety against the threat of communist terrorism amid the current national health crisis.”
“The AFP will remain steadfast in its efforts to contain and eventually eliminate the dangers imposed by the Communist Terrorist Groups. We will continue to fight in the frontlines against the global pandemic while strengthening our post in the battlefront,”AFPCS Gen. Santos added.
