Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo has
called out the different government agencies that deals with law enforcement to
be always fair in their arrests of civilians or netizens posting threats in the
different platforms of social media.
Robredo reiterates that our laws should be
applied to all offenders issuing grave threats on social media, not only to the
critics of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and other government officials.
“Tama naman na i-pursue ito ng NBI, pero sana patas. Sana patas
iyong pag-pursue. Lahat na nagiging biktima nito—whether Pangulo ka o
ordinaryong tao—kapag may binabantaan na ganito, kailangan i-pursue natin,” VP Robredo
said in her weekend radio program.

“Hindi naman puwedeng dahil nasa posisyon ka, ikaw lang iyong
makikinabang sa batas,” she said.
Robredo along with her daughters have been victims also of online
threats and fake news—said this as she pointed out that some offenders allegedly
are even getting paid with taxpayers’ money.
“At ang mahirap pa nito, ang ibang fake news peddlers,
nagsusuweldo pa sa gobyerno. Ano bang mensahe ang binibigay natin? Iyong
ordinaryong tao na nagki-criticize hinuhuli, pero iyong fake news peddlers
susuwelduhan pa ng pamahalaan,” Robredo said.
“So ito talaga iyong nakakagalit—na okay naman na ini-implement
niyo iyong batas, pero sana pantay-pantay iyong implementation,” she said
