PRRD keeping Sinas at NCRPO ‘erodes’ credibility of IATF, PNP - Drilon

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte already decided that Metro Manila police chief Major General Debold Sinas will not be axed from his current position and vouched for his honesty and that he is good in what he does as Metro Manila police chief.

Senate Minority Floor Leader Franklin Drilon has a different opinion on the matter, and further says the decision of the President erodes the public confidence in the government’s ability to enforce quarantine measures.

“That erodes the confidence of our people on the ability of the government to enforce the rules of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force). The IATF has imposed this social distancing and the implementer is the PNP (Philippine National Police),” the opposition senator said over an exclusive interview with CNN Philippines, “The Source”

“The PNP itself does not follow the rules enforced by the IATF, you will find difficulty for the ordinary citizens to follow the same rules. It erodes the credibility of the IATF and the PNP to enforce the rules that they promulgated because the implementers themselves do not follow them,” he added.

As of press time, Sinas and 18 officers are being investigated by the PNP Internal Affairs Service
for violating quarantine rules.
