Because of the
pandemic brought about by the novel coronavirus 2019 disease or COVID-19, the Filipino
crew of the said frigate will have to undergo and complete the mandatory
14-days quarantine.
Before the official entry
of the frigate to military service, it needs to undergo first a technical
inspection which will be done in Subic.
BRP Jose Rizal is the
lead ship of her class, it is one of two frigate ordered from South Korean
shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
As per the Philippine Navy, once commissioned,
FF-150 will provide the service with anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare,
anti-submarine warfare, and electronic warfare capabilities.
The future BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), its sister
ship is expected to be delivered by the end of this year.
