The
series of delays brought about by the coronavirus pandemic will finally be
over, as he first ever brand new warship of the Philippine Navy is finally
arriving in the country’s shores.
BRP
Jose Rizal (FF-150) is the lead ship of her class is touted as the Philippine
Navy’s future as announced by Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo
Bacordo over dzRH will
arriving in Philippine shores in May 23 from the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI)
shipyard Ulsan,
South Korea.

“This
is our first brand new fighting ship,” Vice Admiral Bacordo said.
Bacordo said the PN’s brand
new warship will directly sail for Subic where the technical inspection and
acceptance will be conducted.
“Aalis ng Korea sa May 18
na at darating dito sa Pilipinas on May 23. Dederetso siya sa Subic kung saan
gaganapin ang ating technical inspection and acceptance,” the Navy chief said.
He highlights the
capabilities of this ship being capable of anti-air warfare, anti-surface
warfare, anti-submarine warfare and anti-electronic warfare.
“This is the first time
that we will have this kind of vessel in the Philippine Navy,” Vice Admiral
Bacordo said.
The second frigate BRP
Antonio Luna (FF-151), sistership of futureBRP Jose Rizal, is also expected to
be delivered later this year.
