Atty. Chel Diokno, one
of the losing senatorial candidates of the opposition last mid term election is
really making himself more visible these days.
Aside from his criticisms
for the governance of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte he is making himself a figure
of hope for the perceived oppressed members of the society because of the
present administration.
The Free Legal
Assistance Group (FLAG) which he is the
chairman has decided to be the defense lawyers of the public school teacher who
posted in social media a reward of P50 million for anyone who can kill the
President.

Ronnel Mas of Zambales
was already released temporarily because of the bail he posted, he has accepted
the pro bono services of FLAG to be his counsels of record.
“Tinanggap ng FLAG ang
kaso ni Teacher Ronnel Mas dahil naniniwala kaming ilegal ang ginawang
warrantless arrest sa kanya,” tweeted Diokno.

Diokno urges the people
to be assertive in defending their civil liberties and to cower any abuse of
such rights. “Ipaglaban natin ang ating mga karapatan. The moment we stop
fighting for our rights is the moment we surrender to abuse,” he said.
P72,000 bail
In the one page order
of the Olongapo city RTC Branch 72 Judge Richard Paradeza said the family
of Mas was able to post the P72, 000 bail in connection with the
inciting to sedition in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 filed
by the NBI.
“Accused
having posted his cash bond for his provisional liberty in the amount of P72,
000 which this Court finds to be in order, said accused is allowed to enjoy his
provisional liberty under the said undertaking,” Paradeza’s order said.
“Accordingly, the NBI Manila is hereby ordered to release the accused
unless detained for some other lawful cause/causes,” it added.
His arraignment is set on May 28 at 8:30 in the morning.
