In this time of pandemic, true heroes will
always emerge, most especially in a country like ours where the spirit of “Bayanihan”
is etched in our DNA as Filipinos.
One such story is a grade 9 student from
Muntinlupa City where he has proven that you don’t need to be billionaire rich
like Manny Villar to extend a helping hand in this time of pandemic caused by
the novel coronavirus 2019 disease or COVID-19.
Jarred Gaviola, a 15-year-old student at
Muntinlupa Science High School, made use of something from P3,000
scholarship allowance.

He
decided to buy 100 milk packs and 370 coffee sachets for his neighbors.
“It started from my own scholarship allowance. Because for me, there are many people who are hungry and needing food. They need more care as time goes by,” Gaviola shared in Facebook.
“When I learned from the news that many of our countrymen had been greatly affected by this pandemic, I decided to start my food donation drive to extend help to the needy,” Gaviola told INQUIRER.net.

“I used my scholarship allowance given by the local government to
buy these milk packs and coffee sachets. And after that I have decided to open
my own donation drive so that I can help more people,” he posted in Facebook.
Gaviola as a student said he receives P1,500 quarterly assistance from the
local government of Muntinlupa City as a scholarship.
