What will happen if the franchise bill is already in the Senate?

Losing senatoriable Atty. Larry Gadon wants the public to know that there are nine senators who have one way or another connections to the Lopez owned ABS-CBN Corporation.

Gadon wants this nine senators to inhibit themselves from voting on the franchise application of ABS-CBN Corporation because of being biased already in favor of the giant network.

Gadon wrote Senate President Vicente Sotto, saying there are already nine senators who should not be allowed to vote even if allowed to participate in the discussions and deliberations for the franchise bill.

“Ang mga Senador na ito ay may alegasyon na hayagang alam ng publiko na nakikinabang pati asawa o kapamilya sa ABS CBN bilang stockholder , talent , producer o iba pang interes, sa ABS CBN Channel 2 , TV Plus , Skycable , Radio at iba pang media na pag aari ng ABS CBN,” he said.

The senators whom Atty. Gadon claims to have connections to ABS-CBN are:

Sotto - who supposedly received fees and royalties when the noontime show he appears in, “Eat Bulaga,” was shown on the Lopez controlled network;

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan – spouse of Sharon Cuneta, known to be one of the stockholder and talent of the Kapamilya network;

Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto – spouse is Vilma Santos a celebrity connected with ABS-CBN;

Sen. Manny Pacquiao - as several of his boxing matches were shown on the network, and he therefore earned royalties from them;

Lito Lapid – his appearances in the hit primetime show “Ang Probinsyano”;

Senator Grace Poe -family is deeply connected to the tv station, mother Susan Roces ia a talent of ABS-CBN and the late Fernando Poe Jr.’s films are exclusively shown in the Lopez owned media outfir, and “Ang Probinsyano” was adapted for Tv;

Senator Sonny Angara - his wife, Tootsy, is an executive of the network;

Senator Ramon Bong Revilla – his movies are also shown in the network;

Senator Pia Cayetano - Cayetano, Sebastian, Ata Dado & Cruz Law Office founded by her father is allegedly on retainer by ABS-CBN. “Allan Peter and Pia are also either partners or associates, Sebastian is husband of Pia Cayetano . The late former Senator Rene Cayetano had a long running television and radio show COMPANERO in ABS CBN,” Gadon said.

Atty. Gadon also took note of the senator’s names who signed the Senate resolution asking the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) to reconsider ABS-CBN’s shutdown should also inhibit in the voting of the franchise application.

“[M]eron na sila agad pagkiling o pre-judgement pabor sa ABS CBN sa kabila ng pag expire ng prangkisa nito at sa mga alegasyon ng mga violations nito na may sapat na katibayan na sa kasalukuyang nasa petition sa Supreme Court at nasa mga reklamo at resolution ng pag iimbistiga sa House of Representatives,” Gadon said.
