Trump calls Duterte about ‘collaboration on COVID-19’




The United States of America (USA) has contacted its traditional and mutual defense ally in Asia.

US President Donald Trump Sunday night called Malacanang and talked with our very own President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.


As per Senator Bong Go, who once serve as a special Presidential assistant to the President, the two will discuss bilateral cooperation on the COVID-19 response.

Comebacking Presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque confirmed during April 20 press briefing that United States America, President Donald Trump called President Rodrigo Duterte evening of April 19.
“The call came in at 10:10 in the evening, kagabi,” Secretary Roque said. “It was initiated by the US government, it lasted for about 18 minutes.”
“It was cordial and it was about collaboration ‘nga, bilateral collaboration on COVID-19,” Roque added. “But beyond that, I have no authority to divulge any further details.”

The Philippines has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia, with 6,259 cases. Of that number, 409 have died and 572 have recovered as of April 19.
The US, meanwhile, has the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths worldwide, with 735,366 people who have contracted the viral disease and 39,095 deaths because of it.
