Detained opposition senator Leila De Lima the other day
called out President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to explain and prove that the
remaining funds in the 2019 and 2010 budgets have been already exhausted before
he can entertain in selling government assets to augment the war chest of
government as it battles the novel coronavirus 2019 disease or covid-19.
This did not sit well with Malacanang as they refuted the
detained senator her rhetorics, Presidential spokesperson and concurrent
Presidential Legal Adviser Atty. Salvador Panelo called De Lima antics as “blabbering
from ignorance.”
Duterte never claimed that the public funds were already
exhausted, the Chief Executive’s statement as regards the P275-billion budget
for covid-19 will not last ling as funds are never infinite.

“PRRD (President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) didn’t say we have
exhausted our funds, he said the funds are not infinite,” Panelo said in a text
message.
”She is not
listening to the message of the President. She should read the transcript of
his televised message,” he said.
“If she cannot help
in the government’s efforts to fight Covid-19 she should at least lockdown her
mouth,” he added.
