The atrocities done
by the New People’s Army (NPA) will not be treated with a light hand by the
government.
Malacanang would
not be extending the
nationwide unilateral ceasefire with communist rebels, which took effect last March
17, and it will last up to April 15.
“Tapos na po yung
ceasefire. ‘Yan po ay natapos na at hindi pa nare-renew. Sa tingin ko naman, sa
patuloy na pag-atake ng NPA (New People’s Army), ‘wag na po silang umasa siguro
bagamat ‘yan pa rin ay desisyon ng ating Presidente,” said Presidential
Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque.

Duterte in one of public address has threatened to declare martial if the
atrocities being perpetuated in the different parts of the country by the NPA
has not stopped.
Duterte was fuming
mad when he learned that the communists have attacked and killed soldiers while
they were doing escort activities for the Department of Social Welfare and Development
providing relief goods and the cash aid from the Special Amelioration Program
(SAP).
“I am now warning
everybody, I am putting notice to the armed forces and police. I might declare
martial law and there will be no turning back,” the President said in the same
public address.
