Catriona Gray raises P1 million for Smokey Mountain families amid COVID-19

“To see situations with a silver lining.”

That was part of the beautiful answer of Ms. Catriona Gray when she won as Miss Universe in 2018, and at this time of crisis she is showing why she is a Ms. Universe.

Gray has helped raise $20,000 (about P1 million) which will be allotted for the rice of the families in Smokey Mountain in Manila that have been affected by the enhanced community quarantine as declared by the national government.

This was the update that was announced by Ms. Gray on the initiative and thanked those who have extended their help in her Instagram account.

Gray with Young Focus and other non-governmental organization’s(NGO’s), with the money collected has distributed 15 kilogram bags of rice to 790 families in the depressed community. Another batch will be distributed for 1,000 more families.

“Because of your generosity almost 2,000 Filipino families will not go hungry and be able to stay home to protect their families health as well as their own!” she said.

The initiative continues as the beauty queen urges her followers to continue donating to the project, a 15kg bag of rice costs $11 or P550.

Currently we've distributed to 790 families and are in the process, in partnership with @youngfocusph staff and other local NGOs, of feeding another 1000 families this coming Friday!
