The
help is on its way.
Realizing
that the spirit of “Bayanihan” in this time of crisis is needed more than ever,
any help from the private sector, giant businesses, and the different Filipino
taipans is more than welcome.
As
per the Department of Health (DOH), the country has 142 confirmed cases novel
coronavirus 2019 disease or Covid-19 cases with 12 deaths.
So
when San Miguel Corporation’s (SMC) President and Chief Executive Officer Mr.
Ramon Ang announced that they will be producing alcohol for the use of
government hospitals and local government units, it’s a helping hand that is
really a good news in the fight against covid-19.

SMC
will be producing 70% ethyl alcohol at one of its facilities to provide
free sanitizers for the exclusive use of government hospitals and
local government units.
“We have the means and capability to produce this, and make it
available for free to LGUs and public hospitals. We are working on getting the
necessary clearances from the relevant government agencies, to produce this for
public use. We ask that they help expedite clearances,” SMC’s Ramon
Ang said in a statement.
“While hand-washing is still the best defense, hand sanitizers
with 70 percent alcohol can be your next best option where soap and water are
not available,” Ang explained.
Ang explains that production of the alcohol started over the
weekend initially for use of SMC’s employees.
“This is so our facilities and our own employees will not be
taking away from the already limited supply that’s available to the public. Our
main intention is to get this to our government and healthcare providers at the
soonest possible time,” he said.
