Last February 21, ABS-CBN’s
workers, supporters and stars such as Jericho Rosales, Coco Martin, Angel
Aquino and some cast members of the “Ang Probinsyano” attended the protest held around
the network’s compound.
They came and
gathered to show their support, solidarity, and making a stand to what they
perceived attack on the press freedom and protection of around 11,000 employees
that might lose their jobs if ABS-CBN will close down.
Wearing white shirts,
the Kapamilya celebrities joined thousands of the network’s employees and
supporters in a mass rally outside ABS-CBN’s gate along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue in
Quezon City.

and lead star of the ABS-CBN‘s hit series, “Ang Probinsyano” said the 11,000 employees is at a loss if the network’s
franchise is not renewed.
“Hindi ko hahayaan na
isang araw magising na lang ako na ‘yung pinagkakautangan ko ng loob, ng
maraming empleyado, na nagbigay sa ‘min ng hanapbuhay para matupad ang aming
mga pangarap ay mawala na lang nang bigla,” he said.
Jericho
Rosales for his part said he joined the rally to fight for the jobs of
ABS-CBN’s employees.
“Nandito lang ako para sumama sa paikusap,
pag-apela, humihiling na sana ‘wag tapusin ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN,” he said.
Other stars that were
spotted in the rally were Shaina Magdayao, Jayson Gainza, Angel Aquino, John
Prats, Joel Torre, Dominic Ochoa, Yassi Pressman and Nikki Valdez.
Agot Isidro, a known
critic of the Duterte administration made a Twitter post lauded his fellow
artist for making their stand about the perceived attack on the freedom of the
press.
“Whatever the reason
for being up in arms, it stems from personal experience.Some fighting for
themselves. Some fighting for a cause for many. Either way, in a climate where
our rights are strangled, any resistance is appreciated.”
