“I will cross the bridge when I get there" Pres. Duterte's answer if he will sign a law renewing the franchise of ABS-CBN

ABS-CBN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Carlo Katigbak in the Senate hearing spearheaded by the Public Services Committee chaired by senator Grace Poe, said he was sorry if President Duterte was aggrieved over an aired negative political advertisement paid for by his staunch critic Antonio Trillanes IV.
"We were sorry if we offended the President. That was not the intention of the network. We felt that we were just abiding by the laws and regulations that surround the airing of political ads," Katigbak said.

2 days after the senate hearing, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte accepted the apology of the country's leading broadcast company, ABS-CBN.

“Yes, nandiyan yan. I accept the apology of course," Duterte said when asked by a reporter if he accepts the apology of ABS-CBN CEO Carlo L. Katigbak.

Speaking with the reporters in Malacanang, the President said he is accepting the apology of ABS-CBN but made it clear that the fate of the giant tv network belongs to Congress, and his.

Duterte said he was leaving the decision to renew to Congress.

“I leave it to Congress…The critical move is in the House and I tell you I am not going to interfere. Wala talaga ako,” the President said.

“I never, never, never really called anybody about this, even before. Wala akong kinausap na tao dito,” he said.

When asked if he would sign the law granting the renewal of the legislative franchise of ABS-CBN, he did not answer it categorically.

“I will cross the bridge when I get there. Maybe I will call the media to help me out. It would be a difficult decision, really. So I will... I will cross the bridge when I get there,” he said.
