Vice President Maria Leonora “Leni”
Robredo lashed out the Duterte government regarding the handling of the 2019-
Novel Coronavirus Acute Respiratory Disease (2019-nCoV ARD).
Robredo reiterates her call for the Duterte officials to be “decisive
and swift” with their decisions regarding nCoV.
In her weekly radio show, Robredo suggested
that in the light of the seriousness of the matter at hand it would be best if
President Rodrigo Duterte himself would step up to assure the Filipino people
and update them on the actions that the government is taking to address the
threat posed by the virus.

“Pinakamabuti sana kung si Pangulo
iyong lumabas in public para mag-make ng statements,” she said
The Vice president is frustrated with
the different statements and claims being issued left and right on the matter
may be contributing to the “distrust”, confusion, and fear that many feel about
the virus, which originated in the city of Wuhan in China.
“[A]ng problema kasi, iba-iba iyong
mensahero, iba-iba pa iyong mensaheng binibigay. Masyado pang tentative iyong
pagkabigay.
“Talagang ngayon kasi medyo may distrust dahil iba-iba, eh, iba-iba
iyong sinasabi.
eh. Hindi siya nakakatulong at a time like this. Dapat sana mas decisive, mas
swift, kasi iyon iyong assurance na hinihingi ng tao,” the Vice President added.
