The modernization program of the Philippine
Coast Guard (PCG) is on a record high.
Under the administration of President Rodrigo
Duterte, new and modern equipment have been acquired for the PCG’s mandate in
securing the territorial waters of the country.
In its recent post in its official Facebook
post, PCG reported that it has successfully inspected and led the maiden flight
of one of the two new airbus helicopters – H145 light twin engine helicopter –
from Germany.

The inspection was led by none other by its
PCG Commandant, Admiral Joel S. Garcia.

The
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral Joel S Garcia has successfully
inspected and led the maiden flight of one of the two new airbus helicopters –
H145 light twin engine helicopter – from Germany at the PCG National
Headquarters in Manila this morning, 26 February 2020.
H145 is a 4-tonne-class twin-engine helicopter
equipped with high frequency radios, emergency flotation gear, fast roping,
cargo sling, search light, and electro-optical systems to perform critical
missions including search and rescue, medical evacuation, maritime patrol, and
maritime law enforcement.
The
procurement of said aerial assets amounting to ₱ 685 million each is part of
the PCG’s Light to Medium Multi-Purpose Twin Engine Helicopter Acquisition
Project.
The PCG personnel who will man the newest
helicopters have finished their comprehensive training in Germany last year.
