Travelers from China should go straight to Malacañang if ban not heeded - Kiko Pangilinan

Opposition senator and Liberal Party President Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan gave his unsolicited advice amidst the confirmation of the Department of Health (DOH)’s that the country already has its case of the novel Corona virus.
Tourists or travelers coming from China should go straight to Malacanang palace from the airport if the government still sees no need to impose a travel ban.

“Kung sa tingin ng gobyerno na ligtas ang ating mga kababayan at hindi kailangan ng travel ban sa mga galing ng China dapat mula airport derecho silang lahat sa Malakanyan,” the senator said on his Facebook account

The staunch critic of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, made that remark as he called for the imposition of a travel ban on visitors coming from Wuhan city in Hubei province as well as other areas in China where the nCov has spread, including in Hong Kong.

“Unahin ang kapakanan at kaligtasan ng mamamayang Pilipino. Magsagawa na ng massive information drive kung paano ito maiiwasan at paano magpapagaling ang nahawahan,” the senator said in a separate statement.
“Mag-setup ng mga hotline at emergency unit na magsasagawa ng mga quarantine at iba pang mga aksyon para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng sakit,” he added.

He also points out the unequal treatment of Filipino and Chinese travelers, noting that the DOH said it would quarantine Filipinos returning from China, while Chinese travelers are not.
