Sen. Bato Dela Rosa confirms US cancelled his visa

It looks like detained opposition senator Leila De Liima won a “battle” as against the Duterte administration.

President Duterte ally, Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa confirmed that the United States of America (USA) has cancelled his visa after he inquired about its status last week.

It was reported last month in news website Politiko that senator Bato Dela Rosa, who was the Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief of the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, was the chief tactician who spearheaded the relentless and brutal bloody war on drugs during the early part of the Duterte administration.

"We received their official response to my query last January 10," Dela Rosa told Senate reporters.

US embassy officials neither gave a date nor reason when and why the visa was cancelled, he said.
"No date given basta mag-apply lang daw ako ulit kung gusto ko kasi the present visa was cancelled," he said.
This came about when two US senators earlier stated that the US budget provision was approved that banned Duterte government officials from entering the US mainland, who have a hand in the alleged “illegal” detention of opposition senator Leila De Lima.

De Lima, one of Duterte's most vocal critic, has been detention since 2017 on cases stemming up from the illegal trade that happened inside the National Bilibid Prisons while she was the Department of Justice secretary.
