ABS-CBN ‘s impending
closure is just around 2 months away, and through all of this it found another
ally.
The petition
launched by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines to request Congress “to do what is right and immediately pass the bill
to renew ABS-CBN’s franchise.”
Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV has just signed the
online petition which seeks the immediate renewal of the legislative franchise
of the Lopez owned ABS-CBN.

Considered as one of the fiercest critics of President
Rodrigo Roa Duterte, posted in his Facebook page the online petition asking his
followers to support the Kapamilya network, since his posting it has already
garnered around 2,500 likes.

This coming March is the termination date of ABS-CBN’s
legislative franchise, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has been public about his
grievances about the Lopez owned network and does not intend to renew its
franchise.
“Ang inyong
franchise mag-end (your franchise will end) next year. If you are expecting na
ma-renew 'yan (its renewal), I'm sorry. You're out. I will see to it that
you're out,” the
President said.
Last week, it was reported that the Office of the Solicitor
General has already in its possession a signed quo warranto petition awaiting
its submission in the Supreme Court (SC) asking for the revocation of its
franchise for alleged violation of conditions on its franchise.
