"Duterte sorely mistaken if he thinks he can silence me" - US senator

One of the banned US senators has a mouthful for the Philippine President.

This started when some senators sponsored the move to ban the entry of some Philippine government officials who they say were involved in the “wrongful detention” of opposition senator Leila De Lima in connection to the illegal; drug trade.

Democratic Sen. Edward Markey from Massachusetts, has this message for President Rodrigo Roa Duterte : “President Duterte is sorely mistaken if he thinks he can silence my voice and that of my colleagues.”

He further states that he will not be fazed by the “strongman tactics” of President Duterte when he banned to of his colleagues entry to The country in connection with the detained De Lima.

“I stand with the people of the Philippines and with my state’s vibrant Filipino-American community in fighting for the highest democratic ideals and against the strongman tactics of the Duterte government.”

Previously , Duterte has ordered the banned from entering the country two of Markey’s fellow democrats - Patrick Leahy and Richard Durbin

They were the ones who condemned the Duterte administration for the so called “state-sanction extrajudicial killings” in the war on drugs declared by the government.
