DPWH’s Villar eyes construction of 2 evacuation center per province this year (2020)




A country like our which is visited by atleast 20 typhoons every year and plus the fact that the Philippines is located in the ‘ring of fire’ we need to be always prepared for any natural disasters that might befall us.
Under the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has in its pipeline of project the construction of at least two evacuation centers in each province which all will be completed this year 2020.


“In this year’s budget, meron po kaming allocation of two evacuation centers at least per province. So magkakaroon po ng additional to the evacuation centers that are already programmed in the budget,” Villar also said.

“By this year, we have programmed more than 200 evacuation centers that we’re targeting to finish. Madadagdagan pa yan if we get additional budget,” according to him.
It might be recalled that earlier this week, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte have asked Congress to pass a supplemental budget amounting to P30 billion to help communities affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas province.
President Duterte likewise urged lawmakers to allocate another P20 billion for the construction of evacuation centers in provinces facing the Pacific Ocean.
