‘Arrogant’ Consunji replies to Duterte: Will pay DMCI-Ecoland owners 150% of quake-damaged units

Another Billionaire will “kiss the ass” of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, this time it involves real estate developer Isidro Consunji of DMCI Homes.

Consunji issued a statement that he has already agreed to compensate owners of Ecoland 4000 homeowners 150 percent of what they paid foer their collapsed condo units.

Consunji agreed to compensate the condo owners a few hours after getting called “arrogant” by President Duterte for refusing to pay the Ecoland homeowners who have have been trying to get refunds for their damaged homes since the 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck Davao City in October 2019.

“We accepted the offer to settle the claims of the homeowners at 150 percent of acquisition cost. They have a general assembly on January 20,” Consunji said in a text message to CNN Philippines

The real estate developer giant initially refused to take responsibility for the condo built by its sister firm in Davao.

“The company was not involved in the development, design, and construction of the said project,” DMCI Homes said in a statement days after the earthquake.

In a TV interview, Pres. Duterte said he was bothered by a report on Consunji’s bad behaviour when the DMCI boss met with Ecoland owners.

“You were most arrogant do not do that. You will not only lose your funds but also your business, believe me. I have ordered an audit of all your buildings and violations you have committed,” said Duterte in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Ted Failon.

You know Consunji, you are already rich, and old like me. You have little time left… Stop f*cking the people. You know, if you do not come to terms with the people that you have prejudiced, will not allow you to even construct a building, not even a post,” he added.
