ABS-CBN channel 2 is in big trouble. It looks
payback is coming in their way.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte just renewed his
threat in blocking the franchise renewal of the television giant and Lopez
family owned ABS-CBN Channel 2.
Speaking before newly appointed government official
in Malacanang, in his speech after giving their oaths, stated that the
television giant will not be given any franchise under his watch, once its
existing franchise end in March 2020.

“If you are expecting na ma-renew ‘yan
(franchise), I am sorry. I will see to it that you are out,” Duterte said.
(If you are expecting that your franchise will be
renewed, I am sorry. I will see to it that you are out.)
The Chief Executive in numerous speaking engagement
has said that he will not renew the franchise of ABS-CBN for the reason of the
non-airing of his election advertisement when he was still running for the
position of President in 2016, and the alleged biased reporting of the station
against Duterte.
As per law, television and radio are required to
seek Congressional franchises, pursuant to Republic Act No.3846.
