Definitely as early as now, the country made some heads turn.
The 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games being hosted
by the country might have experienced some hiccups before the formal opening,
but that is now a thing of the pass, since such glitches have been experienced
by other hosting countries.
The grand opening of the 30th SEA Games showed everyone
in this region as well from other parts of the world, a unified beautiful and
culturally diverse Philippines.

Its known untapped potential that everybody knows, and it would
take the honorary life
vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Wei Jizhong, to say that the Philippines can do more
than the Southeast Asian Games.
"The opening ceremony, perhaps, is
unique at the biggest indoor arena in the world. We saw the enthusiasm of all
the athletes, you allowed all the athletes to walk in because in other Games
they limit. The parade is for the honor of the athletes,” Wei said
“This means that Philippines is capable to organize bigger-scale Games,” he added.
The last and only time the Philippines hosted the Asian Games was in 1954,
it was the second edition of the Asian version of the Olympics.
Wei commended the Philippines for
apologizing for the “inconveniences” encountered in prior to the formal opening
and thank the host country in its prompt action giving remedy to the situation.
He explains that such situation is not
limited to the Philippines but is quite normal in any country hosting any
multi-event competition like SEA Games which is being participated by at least
11,000 athletes and officials from 11 countries.
Wei also lauded the Games’
volunteers and the Filipino people’s love for sports.
"To have some problems at the beginning of the
games, in all the other events... it happens. But the apology of the president
and the speaker [of] parliament... it is the first time," We said.
"It means the high authority is very keen to
provide the athletes the best condition," he added.
This the fourth time the Philippines is hosting the
biennial meet, the Games was held in the country in 1981, 1991 and 2005 when
the Filipinos won their first overall championship.
