The silence of the Makabayan bloc is so
defeaning that one would ask why is this so.
Lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc has not
issued any statements regarding the New People’s Army (NPA) attacks after a
holiday truce with the government has been set in place.
The communist rebels were the very ones who
broke the ceasefire on the first day of the Christmas truce.

No statements have been issued by lawmakers
comprising the Makabayan bloc and that they are also mum on the questions
thrown out to them by senator Panfilo Lacson that either the communist rebels are
no longer heeding the orders of CPP founder Jose Maria "Joma" Sison
or he cannot be trusted.
the party-list lawmakers -- particularly, Bayan
Muna Reps. Carlos Zarate and Ferdinand Gaite, Kabataan Rep. Sarah Elago,
Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas, ACT-Teachers Rep. France Castro, and Anakpawis
Rep. Ariel Casilao—have been asked by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) to weigh
in on these issues but thave been always unavailable.
The truce between the Communist Party of the
Philippines (CPP) new People’s Army (NPA)- National Democratic Front (NDF)
started last Dec. 23 and will end at 11:59 p.m. of January 7, 2020.
However, the communist have made separate
attacks against soldiers and policemen in Labo, Camarines Norte; Tubungan,
Iloilo; and Quezon province on the first day of the implementation of the
temporary ceasefire.
CPP founder Joma Sison downplayed the NPA
attacks, saying they “do not mean willful and systematic violations of
ceasefire" since they were isolated cases.
