The Communist Party of the
Philippines’ (CPP) plot to assassinate key officials of the Duterte
admistration.
Among those included in
the CPP’s kill list are Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año,
National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and National Commission on
Indigenous Peoples chairman Allen Capuyan, this according to Maj. Gen. Antonio
Parlade Jr.
Parlade also said that he
and five former communist leaders who are helping the government’s
anti-insurgency campaign are also on the list under Oplan Hades, a program of
the CPP against counter-revolutionaries.

The New People’s
Army’s hit squad, Special Partisan Unit, was tasked to do the job, was said to
be tasked to do accomplish the hit list.
The DILG Sec. does see the
need to increase his security to address such threat, saying he will continue
implementing the President’s program to convince communist rebels in the
countryside to surrender and return to the fold of the government.
“There is no
need because my security measures are enough. Like a soldier, I am always
prepared to fight,” he said.
The Philippine National
Police (PNP), downplayed such threat since
it’s the tradition of the CPP NPA to release propaganda weeks before it
celebrates its founding anniversary on Dec. 26.
