33,000 bottles of baby powder of J&J recalled as FDA finds asbestos in sample"

Filipino all time favorite baby powder might be the same reason for killing its loyal fan base slowly.
Johnson & Johnson recently recalled around 33,000 bottles of baby powder in the United States after US health regulators found trace amounts of asbestos in samples taken from a bottle purchased online.

This is the first time that the company recalled its iconic product from the market for possible asbestos contamination, the US authorities also said that this is the first time they have encountered that an asbestos was found in a baby powder.

Asbestos is a known carcinogen substance that has been linked to the deadly  mesothelioma.

The massive recall is another big blow to the 130 year old US healthcare conglomerate that is facing thousands of lawsuits over a variety of products, including baby powder, opioids, medical devices and the antipsychotic Risperdal.

The recall affected is shares in the stock market as J&J shares fell more than 6% to close at $127.70.
J&J faces more than 15,000 lawsuits from consumers claiming its talc products, including Johnson's Baby Powder, caused their cancer.
J&J said the voluntary recall is limited to one lot of Johnson's Baby Powder produced and shipped in the United States in 2018, the company said.
There is no reported possible contamination of any J&J products outside the US mainland.

"Of note, this lot was only distributed in the U.S and does not affect markets out of the United States, including the Philippines," Johnson & Johnson said in a statement.
