Facing multiple charges in court, the
former senator and now professor Antonio Trillanes is making it known as early
as now that the opposition is already thinking of the 2022 presidential
elections.
Trillans, has dropped the name of Vice
President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo must run in the next presidential elections
as she is the only one seen fit to
assure the opposition’s victory as against any candidate President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte might field.
"We are not entertaining any Plan B," said
Trillanes, adding that it was never too early to plan for the elections.

"The opposition is organizing in relation to 2022. We
feel it's a must win, not just for the opposition, but for every
Filipino," said Trillanes
Trillanes decribes his kababayan as
someone that has a "sweet and gentle way" in making her opposition known as against Duterte’s policies in
government, and that she is a force to reckon with when the time comes.
"I saw her performance in [the] 2016 campaign. I ran
against her, magaling ito (she's good), she is a woman of conviction,"
said Trillanes.
However, Vice President Robredo has yet to decide whether she
would take on the challenge, Trillanes explains.
A showdown with Sara Duterte is looming
Several politicians has already echoed
their preference of the presidential daughter following her father’s footsteps
in Malacanang.
If the last elections despite being a
mere local official the influence she showed gave the opposition 7 of the 13
candidates endorsed by her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago won Senate seats
Plans for Trillanes
The private citizen Trillanes bared
that he has no plans for 2022, as he could be in jail soon, citing a
non-bailable kidnapping case filed against him.
