Office of the Pres. most trusted gov't agency, OVP rating declining

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the most popular and trusted president, all because of the high trust rating of the Office of the President (OP) for the last 2 years – from 2017 to 2019.

This news will be a debate among the different sides of the political fence.

The EON Group, which launched its sixth iteration of the Philippine Trust Index (PTI) 2019 on Monday at The Peninsula Manila, said extreme “trust in the OP increased by 4 percent point (pp), compared with the overall trust rating of the government, which fell by 4pp since 2017”.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mon Cualoping III, said it only validated what the PCOO already knew since 2016-- that President Rodrigo Duterte is the most popular and trusted president.

“Trust level towards the president is skyrocketing. He is about strong political will. He espoused the change that the public has been clamoring since the People Power of 1986,” he added.

Trust levels of the OVP declines

The Office of the Vice President numbers is on a downturn of about 16pp -- from 61 percent in 2017, it dropped to 45 percent in 2019.

“We hope that through the PTI, we can all get a glimpse of a snapshot of our people’s wealth of trust and that we are all provoked to ask the right questions moving forward,” co-founder and chief executive of the EON Group, Junie del Mundo, said during the announcement.

The data was culled from 1,476 collected responses from randomly selected households across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao with a sampling error of +/-2.8 at a 95 percent confidence level.
