In a historic moment the Philippine
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will visit Moscow for the second time next month
upon the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Presidential spokesperson Atty. Salvador
Panelo confirmed the said invitation and that the Chief Executive has accepted
such invitation for the second time.

President and he accepted),” Panelo said.

Even at he start of his term the
President in many of his public speeches did not hide his admiration for the
Russian President to which he describes “his favorite hero”
The planned trip is tentatively
scheduled in October
Bilateral ties between two countries are
expected to further imrove in this second visit of the president.
“When you visit a country other than
yours, it means you are trying to improve the relations, right? It could mean
further improved relations between the two countries,” Panelo said in a media
interview.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy
Boy Locsin, Jr. said the President will go to Russia to “make up for his first
state visit that was aborted within half a day of arriving by the fall of
Marawi to jihadis including foreign fighters.”
It was in May 2017. The President cut
short his first state visit to Russia after Maute terrorists attacked Marawi
City, six days after he declared martial Law in Mindanao.
