Good news for the country.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the US government recently inked
an agreement for the latter to construct a state-of-the-art counterterrorism
training center worth P350 million at the Philippine National Police Academy
(PNPA) in Silang, Cavite.
The said project is part of the P520-million planned US investment to establish a joint operation training center in the country.

In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Albayalde said the project is part of the
thorough and strengthened partnership between the two nations to combat
terrorism.
“We are grateful to the US government for this project which will
establish a new training center mainly designed to boost our counterterrorism
capabilities,” he said.
The PNP Chief said that they are
eyeing 5 newly organized Special Action Force (SAF) battalions to receive formal counterterrorism training in
the new facility.
“This training facility will certainly provide the PNP with enhanced
capability to address threats posed by domestic and transnational terrorism.”
Albayalde said.
Israeli Training
A few months back it was also reported that PNP personnel have undergone
training with their Israeli counterparts.
“What we asked from them is training kasi alam naman
natin talaga sila is always very alert iba talaga ang level of
training nila it’s because iba ang level of threat sa
kanila (because we know that they are always very alert and they have very
high level of training because of level of threat in their country),” PNP chief Gen. Albayalde said.
“Our discussion with the Israeli counterparts focused on the
challenges being faced by the PNP, our campaign against terrorism,
specifically, the ISIS, and our continuing efforts to fight this menace,” the
PNP chief added.
