United States of America Ambassador to the Philippines met with
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, and the US envoy cannot hide his admiration to the
young local chief executive that he called him a “total rock star.”
Moreno paid the US Ambassador
Sung Kim a courtesy call at the US Embassy accompanied by his chief of staff
Caesar Chavez.
The meeting between the two lasted around 45 minutes.

“You bring new dynamism and energies to your position,” Kim
said.
Kim said the US appreciates Moreno’s stand on the government’s
anti-drug campaign, which is supportive but cautioning the police authorities
to respect human rights.
“We appreciate your approach. You’re dealing with it in a manner
that is consistent with human rights and rule of law,” Kim added.
The US Ambassador also cited Mayor Moreno for being a product of
US State Department-sponsored International Visitors Leadership Program in
2011.
“We are proud of you being an alumnus. We want to claim that. We
have a good success in identifying future leaders. That is one of the few that
we are proud of,” Kim said.
The Manila mayor took the opportunity to tell Kim about his
policies and plans for the nation’s capital.
When asked what keeps him awake at night, Isko Moreno replied: “My
greatest fear is for the people to accept that chaos is the norm in the city.”
