A
good news for the Philippine Navy (PN) and eventually for the entire country.
During
the arrival ceremonies accorded to the Philippine Navy’s newest and most
heavily-armed warship – the BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39), Department of National
Defense Delfin Lorenzana during his speech said that South korea is planning to
donate two more Pohang class anti-submarine warship ships to the country.
“I
think the South Korean government is thinking of donating two more of this
Pohang-class... They’re thinking of two,” Lorenzana said

Most
Heavily Armed PN ship
The
former South Korean corvette has the distinction of being the most
heavily-armed and powerful surface combatant of the Philippine Navy (PN) vessel to
date.
BRP
Conrado Yap(PS-39),is armed with two 76mm Oto Melara automatic guns, two Oto Breda
40mm light cannons, and two triple torpedo tubes, making it capable of dealing
with surface, sub-surface and air threats, according to Philippine Fleet
commander, Rear Admiral Giovanni Bacordo.
Both
PN vessels, BRP Conrado Yap was escorted by BRP Davao Del Sur (LD-602) on
its voyage, arrived in Manila South Harbor early Sunday morning. Both left
Jinhae Naval Base in Changwon City, South Korea last August 12.
