Two of the most modern vessels of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is on
its way to the earthquake hit Itbayat, Batanes.
2 Parola class vessels namely BRP Malabrigo and BRP Capones is already on its way to Batanes carrying much neede relief goods
from the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the PCG Auxiliary, Capt. Armand
Balilo, PCG spokesman said.
The relief goods consists of rice, canned goods, milk, blankets, folding
beds and tents.

Additional PCG personnel was also aboard the two vessel which will
assist the medical activities and relief operations in Batanes.

to conducts patrol as ordered by Pres. Duterte
As ordered by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte the two Parola class
vessels will also intensify patrol activities off the waters of Batanes to
enforce Philippine sovereignty and conduct law enforcement activities after the
relief operations.
"You might want to ask the coast guard to — stay here, stay
for a while and switch once in a while, to patrol the island from time to time.
Not every day but just to assure that those islands will remain ours,"
Duterte said.

Lorenzana said the Chief Executive’s order was to deter poachers and anybody
who will encroach in Philippine territory.
"The directive of the president is clear for the coast guard
to station... just one ship, one boat to patrol the area," Lorenzana said
